A Little About this "French" Girl

"One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things." --Henry Miller

Okay, I am guilty. I am one of the thousands of students who think that studying abroad for a year mandates a blog about pictures and food and travels and adventures.

And I am guilty of including all of those things: I've added my favorite snapshots, I've described my harrowing experiences of dragging 90 pounds of luggage through the Paris metro system, I've written about my boring, daily European life, and even thrown in some random lists detailing my thoughts about life abroadWhat a terribly stereotypical student blogger!

Put simply, I am a normal American college student living in Strasbourg, France for almost a year (August 2013 through either May or June 2014).  Back in the U.S., I'm a student double-majoring in the totally useful fields of English and French at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.

As an avid reader and writer, language has always been a thing of fascination, and I have decided to continue studying mankind's daily jargon by catapulting myself into a foreign language--and a foreign life! Starting a blog seemed like a great way to share my travel experiences, photos, and stories with friends and family, and anyone else who cares to read it.

So maybe you want to know about life in France?

Well, this blog is no romantic midnight stroll through Paris, but it might give you an idea about living in a less-well-known corner of this lovely country--the ups and the downs, the bizarre and the hilarious.

I fully believe that life is an adventure that you either learn to love or squander. So while I've been given a chance to live in Europe for almost a year, I'm going to do my best not to waste it! That means eating a lot of food, traveling near and far, taking photos of everything, and learning all that I can--even if all these ingredients add up to a very typical study abroad blog.

Finally: thank you for reading! May all your travels be less stressful than hurriedly lugging a million pounds of luggage up and down staircases in a crowded Paris subway!

I felt like a picture is sort of necessary for an "about me" tab, so here's one of my favorites from when my mother
and I climbed Briksdalsbreen, an arm of a glacier in Norway. I'm the climber in the blue jacket.
